The residual strength of chopped strand mat glass fibre/epoxy composites following
exposure to different hygrothermal conditions was investigated. All residual tests were
carried out according to ASTM D 3479 and D 3039 on tension-tension fatigue with a
frequency of 5 Hz, a stress ratio of R= 0.5and maximum stress |

Trains and cars are the most important modes of transportation throughout the world. In
highly developed countries, trains have become essential for human use as the most
well-known form of public transportation, whereas the car plays a significant role in
prompt human travel from one place to another. |

Electroless nickel-phosphorus (Ni-P) coating of carbon steel as well as a polypropylene
substrate was conducted using sodium hypophosphite as a reducing agent in alkaline
media. The influence of pH on coating appearances and the properties of the coatings
for both steel and the polypropylene substrate were studied. |

Abstract

Metal matrix composites (MMCs) have become attractive for engineering structural
applications due to their excellent specific strength and are increasingly seen as an
alternative to conventional materials, particularly in the automotive industry. In this
study, a historical background on the development and application of metal matrix
composites for automotive brake rotors is presented. |

A mathematical model was developed for the study of external turbulent film
condensation of pure vapours flowing downward and normal to the axis of the
condenser tube with constant heat flux conditions maintained at the tube wall. The
magnitude of interfacial shear was estimated for a given external flow condition of the
vapour with the help of Colburns analogy. |

Abstract
|
|
The increasing importance of supply chain management (SCM) is forcing organisations
to reconsider and improvise their purchasing-related matters. In lieu of that, the supplier
selection process plays an important role in purchasing activity. The supplier selection
process has undergone significant changes in the past forty years. |

An experimental analysis was done using a four-stroke, single cylinder, constant speed,
water-cooled diesel engine, which was interfaced with Engine software. Performance
and emission characteristics were evaluated for three non-edible vegetable oils, i.e.
thumba, jojoba, neem oil, as well as jojoba methyl ester, to study the effect of injection
pressure at 205, 220, 240 and 260 bar with a variation in injection timing at 23°bTDC
and 28°bTDC. |

Abstract
|
|
A commercially available Y-TZP ceramic powder was fabricated under four different
sintering profiles in order to investigate the effects of conventional single-stage sintering
(SSS) with dwell times of 1 min and 2 h, respectively, compared with two-stage
sintering (TSS), on the physical and mechanical properties of Y-TZP. Sintering was
performed up to 1400°C at a ramp rate of 10°C/min. It |

In the present work, the best shell wall thickness of a mould cavity was investigated in a
process capability study of a rapid casting solution for aluminium alloys using threedimensional
printing (3DP). Starting from the identification of a component/benchmark,
an aluminium-alloy casting prototype was produced with different shell wall thicknesses
by three dimensional printing. |

This paper extends the edge-based smoothed point interpolation method (ES-PIM) to
bending strength analysis of asymmetric gears with complex outlines. Five sets of
asymmetric gears with pressure angles of 20°/20°, 25 0/20°, 30°/20°, 35°/20° and
400/20° were generated by a specially designed rack cutter. |
